As a Security Officer - CRE Access Control in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Commercial Real Estate, and more. Join Allied Universal at a commercial real estate location where you will help manage access control, verify badges, and support visitor entry while maintaining a welcoming presence. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, monitor security-related activity, and respond to alarms and other incidents with clear communication and strong customer service. This role is a great fit for someone comfortable using a computer and/or tablet who values integrity, teamwork, and innovation.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to tenants, visitors, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access to the property by monitoring entry and exit points, verifying identification and/or authorization, and issuing visitor credentials in accordance with site procedures.
  • Screen and direct visitors, contractors, and deliveries to the appropriate location, maintaining a professional presence at access control points.
  • Monitor security-related alarms, cameras, and building systems as assigned, and report unusual activity, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns to the appropriate contacts.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting emergency services and notifying Allied Universal supervision as required.
  • Complete daily activity reports, incident reports, and access logs with clear, accurate details per site requirements.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including parking areas and common spaces, to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Assist property management and building staff with security-related requests such as key control, elevator access, and after-hours access coordination, following site-specific policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Alarm Panel Experience is preferred.
  • Access Control/Badge Experience is preferred.
  • Customer Service Experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
